Green Tea & Matcha are an antioxidant rich combination, supporting weight loss (promoting thermogenesis) plus naturally contains the amino acid L-theanine, which helps to restore calm, reducing anxiety and stress. Green tea contains the highest level of antioxidants (while black tea has 2-3 times more caffeine than green tea). The many bioactive compounds in green tea support general health and wellbeing.

Matcha green tea is a special type of tea, where the Camellia plants are grown and harvested in shade, resulting in higher levels of chlorophyll and L-theanine.

Green Tea and Matcha Tea are packed full of beneficial bioactive compounds that boast many health benefits. The three main varieties of tea are; green, oolong and black, all derived from the same plant, called Camellia Sinensis grown in bright sun light. The difference is determined in the level of fermentation. Green tea is not fermented at all, just steamed, which makes it the most health promoting tea of the three varieties.

The antioxidant rich polyphenols, such as flavonoids and catechins in green tea help to scavenge (neutralise) free radicals, which can damage cells, causing havoc in the body. Free radicals are thought to be one of the main players contributing to ageing. Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCG) is the most potent active antioxidant component in green tea, that can help reduce oxidative damage to body cells and tissues. Most importantly, it is only found in green tea, due to no fermentation, which would otherwise affect the compound. (Oolong and black teas do not contain this powerful antioxidant).

Green tea naturally contains caffeine and the amino acid L-theanine, which have synergistic effects for improving the brain function, either by inhibiting or increasing certain neurotransmitters. The combined effects of caffeine and L-theanine create a relaxed, stable energy and increased productivity without the jitteriness of regular caffeinated coffee. Additionally, green tea has been used as a weight loss aid. Combined with a nutritious diet and an effective exercise programme, green tea can help assist in the process of weight loss, as it promotes thermogenesis.

Matcha green tea is a special type of tea, where the Camellia Sinensis is grown and harvested in shade. This results in higher levels of chlorophyll (green pigment)and the amino acid L-theanine (calming properties).
